“Self expression through art is a powerful teaching & healing tool.”
As well as pursuing her own art, Cheryl-Ann encourages both children and adults to explore their creativity by offering courses of self-expression through art.
Private Classes:
The following course is offered to children aged 9 years and older, as well as adults.
“One-on-On” 6 weeks. 2-hour classes. $195. Dates & times by appointment. Some materials included.
The first three weeks will teach you about expanding your perception of the visual world and exploring creativity. Then you will focus on your specific area of interest and begin to improve your technique.
This course has been designed to focus on your specific needs. Working One-on-One with a professional artist in a positive environment.
Group Classes for Women only:
This is a time for self-expression and creativeness!
Remember, increasing self-awareness and therefore self-expression, enhances every aspect of your life, at home and at work.
The following courses can be designed for an intensive weekend retreat, spread out over a number of weeks or used as an ongoing self-discovery programme.
Duration, dates and times to be arranged for specific groups of friends and colleagues. Discounts will be available for Not-for-Profit or Charitable groups.
“Inside Out” Come and learn in a positive environment to let that inner artist out!
Discover what creativity lives within you, we each have a creative aspect to ourselves but often times it is blocked by self-doubts or day to day life stressors. Experiment with a variety of art media and techniques and release that hidden talent, release the artist within!
“Know yourself, love yourself”
I will make a plaster cast of your front torso and together we will discover both the positive and negative message we tell ourselves, about our body, and in turn our identity and self-worth. In a safe environment, you will visually express your deepest thoughts and feeling about yourself, using a copy of your physical form as the canvas!
“A Mask a Day - keeps the doctor at bay”
This course is designed to explore the many roles we play in our daily lives. The roles we expect of ourselves, the roles families expect of us as well as societies expectations. By being aware of the many roles we play out on a daily basis, we can begin to figure out who we truly are, and where we truly fit into the daily drama.
In a small group and relaxed setting we will create the many masks that represent the roles we play on the stage of life. And we will celebrate our authentic self.
Clay Classes:
Most clay classes offered below can be arranged for children aged 9 years and older, for adults of all ages, women only groups and family groups, even “Grand Sharing” where grand parents and grandkids learn together!
The following courses are usually 6 weeks, 2-hour classes, $225.
(10% discount for classes booked during the day, Monday-Friday.)
However, courses can be designed to your groups’ specifications.
“Muddy Beginnings!”
Come and explore clay for the first time (or second) try your hand at the wheel, express yourself with the extruder, build a coiled construction, and pinch your way to the slab roller.
Once you find a favorite way to shape your creativity, then dive into the various ways of decorating and finishing your masterpieces.
“The ancient art of Pinch and Coil”
This course needs a dedicated, patient soul (or maximum of three souls) to take up the challenge and learn to perfect these methods, while creating sculptural art. Please note that some experience with clay is essential for this course.
Pinch and Coil are the oldest methods of working in clay and in my opinion, the most versatile. Learn to create palm size sculptures or ones that are several feet high and wide. Let the size of the kiln be your only restriction! We will also cover burnishing oxides and sqraffito as decorative techniques.
“Rocking Raku for Beginners” Adults only!
This course will enable a maximum of 6 people, to glaze & fire 6 pre-bisqued pieces each (depending on size).
Dates for this workshop will be decided by the registrants. Saturday or Sunday, 9am-4pm. $125 per person (includes glazes).
Rocking Raku is a course full of excitement and surprise!
If you have worked in clay before but have never experienced the excitement of raku then this is the course for you!
We will work as a team to fire our work in an outdoor gas kiln. Removing the pots from the kiln while they glow from a 1000c heat and placing them in a bed of organic combustibles to begin the magic of Reduction. Finally after a clean up each pot will surprise you with its palette of vibrant metallic colours.
Team work, safety and fun are the main stay for the course. Please be sure to follow the guide lines concerning clays to use and clothes to wear etc. And please bring a pot luck lunch to share with your team.
* Please note, if you need clay and/or studio space to create your Raku ware, call and arrange to work at WebsterWood Studio prior to the course. Tuition is also available.
