Over the past three summers, a total of 85 children have enjoyed WebsterWood Art Camp for Kids. They have explored self-expression through painting, sculpting, drawing and collage work.
The children have worked in clay, mixed media, paper and fabric. They have explored perception, by drawing ‘blind’. They have expanded their knowledge of the natural world by connecting art and nature.
Most important the WebsterWood Art kids have let their inner artist out! They have tried new things, learnt new art techniques, and expressed themselves, safely and creatively.
Each camp week ends with an art exhibition, where all the final pieces were unveiled to family and friends.
In previous years each camp week has been limited to specific age groups or theme, however, this has restricted the availability for families taking vacation. More important the whole group has had to work at the same pace irrespective of interest and skill levels.
Information gathered from the participant and family questionnaires has encouraged me to alter the format of the camp.
So this year WebsterWood Art Camp for Kids will focus on individual creativity and exploration. Setting the much requested individual “Challenges”.
This year, each camp week will be open to budding artists aged 9 years and older.
The theme will be broad and open to diverse interpretation, for example “All About Me”, could refer to self-discovery and self-expression or be a dialogue about the world and issues surrounding you.
The two professional Artists; Nancy M. Green and I, will have a variety of large and small projects prepared at the beginning of each week. However, the young budding artists will be able to work at their individual pace and focus on their specific interests & skill levels. That could mean they work intensly on one major piece or they choose an exploration of a number of smaller artworks.
Wk 1 July 4th-7th (Tues–Fri) $150 CLOSED
Wk 2 July 10th-14th (Mon–Fri) $195
Wk 3 July 17th-21st (Mon– Fri) $195 CLOSED
All three weeks run from 9am until 4pm. Before and After Care (one hour before and one hour after) is available for an additional $50 per week.
